Research Reports on Ancient Maya Writing

**NEW** Universals and the Logic of the Material Implication: A Case Study from Maya Hieroglyphic Spelling (RRAMW 62) by John Robertson, Stephen Houston, Marc Zender and David Stuart (2007)

A Yaxchilan Style Lintel Possibly from Retalteco, Petén, Guatemala (RRAMW 61) by Stephen Houston, Charles Golden, Rene Muñoz and Andrew Scherer (2005)

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: The five numbers, 56 through 60, that will end the current subscription year of the Research Reports on Ancient Maya Writing, will appear this year in their usual form and format for all current subscribers. These will, in effect, end an era of publication that began in the summer of 1985 with the publication of two papers by then 20-year-old David Stuart. The design, format, and typography for these numbers and their successors, worked out by David and myself in our home library, has served well, as has the quality of their content. The number of subscribers gradually increased to a peak of several hundred individuals and institutions in nearly two dozen countries around the world.

It is now time for a change. Beginning with Number 61 the Research Reports on Ancient Maya Writing will appear in a slightly modified and appropriately modern format, in color and online. This will enable the publication to better serve the closely related fields of epigraphy and iconography, and hopefully to also serve an ever-widening audience of students and researchers in the Maya field.

A form of this notice will accompany the next regular hard copy Research Reports to be issued to our regular subscribers to complete the current subscription period with Number 60. In the meantime, and in advance of the appearance of Numbers 56-60, No. 61 of the series, the analysis of a looted Yaxchilan-style lintel by Stephen Houston, Charles Golden, Rene Munoz, and Andrew Scherer, now makes its debut.
